This is a baking-powder bread, but it has enough of the familiar taste and texture of regular bread for you to still enjoy this everyday staple in your diet.
An easy to bake recipe straight from the oven in 60 minutes.
- Pre-heat your oven to 180C.
- Mill the mixed seeds and the sunflower seeds until fairly finely ground.
- Combine these with the rest of the dry ingredients.
- Beat together the eggs and the buttermilk.
- Combine all the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
- Pour the mixture into a well-greased loaf pan.
- Sprinkle the top with the poppy seeds.
- Bake for at least 60 minutes, until the loaf is fully set.
- Once cooked, this loaf slices just like ordinary bread, keeps for several days in a closed container, and freezes well.
- It also toasts, though it is best to moisten the crust slightly before toasting to prevent burning.
